“You Can’t Always Get What You Want — But if You Try Sometimes, You Get What You Need”…

The above pretty much sums it up for me these past several years.

Because, for pretty much that amount of time, I have been involved in an ongoing legal dispute with my former employer — a charge was brought against them by me to the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) and both myself and my former employer were even involved in mediation at one point and so now, today, a settlement has been reached

And, I’ll be speaking with my attorney later today about the final steps.

So, at last, this hellish brutal journey of “She said, they said” has now come to a merciful end. And, I’ve been asking myself: “How do I feel about it all?”

Well, disappointed to begin with, because the settlement is far less than what I deserve after almost a decade of work for my former employer.

I had a fully remote work from home job years prior to the pandemic.

At one time, my contributions and ideas were valued and at the risk of humblebragging, I was very well liked by my former work colleagues.

All of us were a small enclave of Humanities/Liberal Arts types so there was an inherent understanding of each other — our shared love of the arts.
