A very dear friend of mine from the UK 🇬🇧 was supposed to be visiting me over NYE into the first week of January (this was all arranged prior to Omicron). We are both fully vaccinated and boosted. When Omicron happened I wanted to do the right thing and so I phoned my GP and asked for her suggestions and was told that even with both my friend and myself being fully vaxxed and boosted that her advice would be for us both to pretty much wear masks the entire time. Needless to say I was shocked as this was most definitely NOT what I wanted to hear. After my friend and I discussed it we both sadly decided to cancel the visit and wait until the Spring of 2022. It’s breaking our hearts 💔 because this visit is something that we had both been very much looking forward to. This past summer when the CDC announced that masks were no longer necessary I had an ominous feeling which was then further exacerbated by Dr Fauci (whom I once trusted implicitly) saying that basically it was “okay” to reduce the time in quarantine - I think that most of us who read both you and Umair could see the subtext: “Back to work! We don’t care” - this is criminal. Absolutely full stop. Please stay safe everyone. We’re on our own now ♥️
