To answer your question: "Do Americans get it?"

Sadly, no...not really, I don't think.

SOME people do, very much so.

Here's the thing though: IF something concrete were going to happen regarding gun violence, it already WOULD HAVE by now. It's not rocket science we're talking about here. Our government has abandoned us. It is not interested in protecting us as citizens. And, it's certainly shown absolutely no signs of caring and compassion for women, minorities, children, or anyone deemed to be "different" - this may sound like a strong statement to make but: I firmly believe that our country is "gaslighting" us.

To not think. To not question. And to not feel.

This is unacceptable. I, for one, cannot wait to escape this country and I would urge anyone else who is able to do so, to do the same, because none of this is going to stop, and, in fact, sad to say, I fully expect the violence to escalate during the 2024 elections; how can it not, really?

I certainly don't want or desire that, but America is not coming back from this; other countries look at us aghast. As they should. As we all should.
