This really resonates with me as I will also be moving to another country later this year. I have a lot of conflicting feelings about giving up my car for all of the reasons that you mentioned here. I’ve never been a big fan of driving and I know that in the long term I will be relieved not to have to drive but it is such an American thing to have a car so a part of me almost feels like I’m giving up part of my identity somehow.
