This is so very true, sad to say.

My wonderful grandmother, who was quite wealthy, would often, when someone would visit her home and admire something (a painting, a piece of jewelry, a lovely trinket) she would then say to the person: "Do you want it? Here, take it"

When, as a young girl, I once asked her: "Grandma, why do you give things away that you love?" she said to me, "Honey, I can't take any of this with me, you'll understand one day though"

And wow, was she right! I DO understand.
