The Very Real Importance of Love
And why, without it, we perish
My last blog post was about the writer Anais Nin and I was reminded of (one) of her many famous quotes, one of which was this: “Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don’t know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.” I feel this to be very true and also very germane to this particular post because I recently came to the conclusion that overall in my life, I feel much more emotionally regulated when I know, beyond doubt, that I am loved — really truly fully LOVED and it’s wonderful.
And, according to Dr. Gabor Mate, this need for love as well as the absence of love can directly impact our physical, emotional and spiritual health. I would very much like this wonderful man to be my doctor forever, really :)
Some other quotes from Anais Nin that pertain to love and it’s paramount importance to our daily lives, which help to inspire and sustain me:
“You don’t find love, it finds you. It’s got a little bit to do with destiny, fate, and what’s written in the stars.”
