The Spiritual Desire of Nick Cave

Love, Lust and Affection.

“The Ship Song” has all of these elements that just flow over me, whenever I listen to it. What a life journey this man has been on and how very lucky we are that he feels compelled to share it with us. I first became aware of Nick Cave years ago (in my 20’s) when someone I was dating introduced me to The Bad Seeds and Blixa Bargeld. To say that I was transfixed would be putting it mildly. There was something undeniably sexy about Nick Cave that appealed to my rabid romantic tendencies — he was (and still is) rather like a modern day version of the brooding Heathcliffe on the Moors, yearning.

In the film “Wings of Desire” Nick and his band are prominently featured (“From Her to Eternity”) and through the years, I kept up with him/his life/his music — and I will always wish that Nick and PJ Harvey had stayed a couple because in so many ways, they seemed perfect for one another — their chemistry was undeniable and Nick has described their relationship in this wonderful article, including the love letter that he later sent to her:
