Student Loan Debt Relief (for me)

Here’s what it means, I think…

Earlier today, President Biden announced important news for individuals, such as myself, who have student loans (a graduate degree loan in my case). While this is potentially good news, in my estimation, it has taken FAR too long for this to happen. I understand that caution is important, but please remember that President Biden campaigned on his promise of debt relief and…it’s just NOW happening? Hmm, methinks it’s rather a bit late.

But, better late than never, I suppose? Maybe?

While this will certainly help many people, myself included, it will not completely eliminate the total amount of student loan debt that I have; it will lessen it, for sure, and I am hoping that, combined with my years in higher education and the payments that I made under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program will help to eliminate the remaining amount I owe.

A better solution though, would be to completely eliminate interest rates AND to offer debt resolution through ANY public service, without maintaining the now requisite term of 10 years of public service; that seems a bit excessive.

I’m sure many people will be of the mindset that “at least it’s something.”

And, it IS better than nothing, but it also could have been SO much more.

I feel…disappointed…as it was also announced that the most recent pause in payments, which was set to end this month has now been extended to the end of…
