“So Shines A Good Deed In A Weary World”…
I’ve always loved Gene Wilder and first fell in love with him as a young girl.
I told everyone that I was going to marry Willy Wonka and live in his Chocolate Factory with the “Oompah Loompah’s” and I believed this with all my heart…dear Gene Wilder — with your bright hair, vivid blue eyes and by everything that I have ever read and heard about you, your beautiful heart.
I thought of this particular scene earlier today because of this line:
“So shines a good deed in a weary world”…all because my wonderful friend John called me today on his lunch break because he was worried about me.
I guess after reading my post from yesterday — some days are better than other days…but the very real fact that he called, that he cared, that he expressed concern, means the absolute world and more to me. TRULY.
So — this post is for him…because we are so much alike in so many ways.
Because: he always calls me “Doll Face” which I absolutely love :)
And because: he is a genuinely good kind and tender-hearted man.
He asked me this: “Hey Kid, are you still staying on the sidewalks?”
Yes, John, I am, and THANK YOU for asking me this question because:
In spite of all the losses that I have struggled to endure these past two years, it is because of people like you, that I am reminded that all evidence to the contrary at times, I DO have loving and compassionate people in my life.
It’s easy to forget this, when people that you have loved and trusted have let you down, disappointed you, and broken your already shattered heart again.
This is EXACTLY why mental health needs to be discussed in an open, respectful and engaging manner so we can remove at last, the stigma.
This will be a short post today because earlier this morning, I received my second Covid booster in preparation for my trip to the UK for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee…my dear one (John): you asked for a postcard, which I will be sure to send, but I’m still getting you a souvenir because: I just want to.
Because you’re wonderful :)))
