So many thoughts and feelings about this. I taught briefly as an adjunct professor at a local public university and I still have a very good friend who teaches in the English department there. She worries every single year about not having a job the next year. I know that all too sadly your situation unfortunately is happening at many higher academic level institutions. I myself have a graduate degree in Humanities - As a society and a culture, all we need to do is look around us and see and hear the appalling lack of self-awareness and the ability to think critically.
