So, I survived my birthday (somehow)
Watching older (and quite honestly) better made films can soothe the spirt
For those who take the time to read my posts (for which I am ever so grateful for, and “thank you” again) I have not exactly been hiding my struggles lately.
And, I think I do that for two reasons, actually: (1) because it helps me to write about it all and (2) I would like to believe that perhaps by writing about my own struggles that perhaps it will help someone else — just to know that they are not alone — that as John Donne once wrote: “No man (or in this case, “woman”) is an island” although, granted, it’s very easy to FEEL that way.
One of the movies I watched yesterday was “Summertime” with Katherine Hepburn, filmed entirely in Venice and oh, it was SO lovely! The beautiful scenery, especially right now, when none of us can really “go” anywhere.
But, there was also this scene too, which I found incredibly erotic (or maybe that’s just me) — the way that Rossano Brazzi looks at her here — SIGH:

I stayed in bed, as it was snowing out and had far too much sugar.
I’m still not sure “how” I feel; or even “how” I can begin to heal from things.
BUT — Venice, illicit lovers and beautiful red shoes are a good start, maybe?
