“Once a Goth, Always a Goth”

Is it just me or is Depeche Mode (and specifically Dave Gahan) seemingly aging in reverse? Someone sent me a link to an article in The Guardian about the band’s ongoing relationship with photographer Anton Corbijn and as I read it, I was reminded (yet again) of my never ending love for this band.

But really, is Dave Gahan ingesting the blood of sacrificial virgins or something?!! Because gosh, he must be in his…60’s by now maybe? But he honestly appears better looking NOW than he did back in the early 80’s.

I think for me, the songs of Depeche Mode were often “sexy time” meaning: they just had that “vibe” to them that Dave Gahan’s uber sexy dance moves only reinforced. As a former ballet dancer, I can say with all seriousness: this man moves as if he’s already in the act of having sex onstage if such a thing were possible (is IT possible?!!). Anyway, so many great songs and videos that it’s quite difficult to have a favorite but in lieu of reciting all the better known songs I’m going to go with a more recent one that just illustrates how for some people (*ahem — Dave Gahan*) there really IS something to the statement of “Ageing like a fine wine” and this is indeed true! In this instance, I’ll proffer my sentiment of needing a case of this particular extremely well-aged wine.

Evidentiary proof — which is in the pudding — as it were — so to speak.
