I was sad yesterday to read that the bassist of Pulp, Stephen Mackey, had passed away. Someone made a comment on Twitter about this song: “Quite possibly the best British protest song ever” …this had me thinking about how so many of our government officials here in the States could qualify.
I mean, sure…they talk A LOT about making things “right” in an attempt to redress certain in-equalities and I do feel that President Biden’s heart is brimming with good intentions but, as we all know, with such inherent divisions running amok, how much will he actually be able to really DO?
The GOP constantly talks about how they are the party of wanting to help people, but really, does anyone with any coherent sense of logic believe this? Of course not — but the problem is, so many other people do believe.
Imagine the luxury of never having to worry about health insurance, food, a roof over your head — all three things that are integral to human life. Imagine the incredible display of arrogance and rudeness (not to mention horrendous amounts of tone deafness and arrogance that MGT displayed during the State of the Union address) — it was embarrassing, to say the least.
If, like me, you have often asked yourself: “How do these people sleep at night?” I would say that “these people” probably sleep just fine and dandy.
