Let’s Get LOST

--

…I just played the infamous lottery numbers from the tv show “Lost”…

WHY? Someone may be asking? Well…for starters, there’s a very large amount of money to be won,(but then, isn’t there always?) and also, I have a strange curiosity about things meaning: I think, I ponder, reflect, wonder, analyze, theorize…and yes, okay, for those reading this who are familiar with the narrative arc of “Lost” and specifically the importance of these numbers then yes, it’s also a bit of a risk because “Poor Hugo” right? Let’s just say that this set of particular numbers did NOT have the most positive outcome imaginable for his character so…we shall see, I guess…what comes to pass but also, let’s be real — as I’m not a math person I have absolutely no inclination much less ability to spout all the never ending variations of “But” -

And, “Do you know what the chances are?” “Do you have any idea of the extreme unlikely event” as well as “You have as much chance of winning as Benedict Cumberbatch realizing that you are his American soul mate and that he simply MUST be with you, marriage and children be damned!” Umm yeah.

Okay. Mea Culpa. I get it. I’m not winning BUT in those delicious seconds of paying out $4 for this I also received in return: an ever so brief reprieve from the mundanity of daily human existence. And quite honestly (truly) after this year and a half of…existing instead of “living” it’s damn well worth the $4 because quite simply, even though to paraphrase Debbie Harry, “Dreaming is Free” well — it may not be THAT free, but, it’s free enough for me, right now.
