As unbelievable as it may seem, today is the 50th anniversary date of Joni Mitchell’s “Blue” — and the above article in “The Guardian” celebrates this by asking various musicians what their favorite song is and why…in another article about this momentous occasion, The LA Times provides this overview:

Another article I read this morning talked about how Joni Mitchell owned properties, cars, and led a rather vagabond lifestyle at a time when most women did not even have the privilege of a credit card! This really stunned because in some ways, to use the parlance of that particular time — “We’ve come a long way, baby” and yet, in so many other ways, as women, it often feels that we really haven’t come that far at all. It’s quite sad, really.

I think Bjork describes it best when she says that: “Joni had the guts to set up a world driven by extreme female emotion.” And wow, that is SO very true! As a highly…
