The funeral of Queen Elizabeth is a sight to behold. NOBODY and I do mean NOBODY can peerlessly match the grandeur, pomp and pageantry of the British people. It is unlike anything else that I have, as an American, ever seen. There is dignity, grace, military precision, elegance, beauty, and a certain quiet spirit that dominates anything and everything ROYAL.

I have so very many conflicting emotions about this. Especially as I will be moving to the UK next year and King Charles will be the Monarch, now.

A girlfriend of mine texted me this message morning and I wanted to share

“Watching a bit of the Queen’s funeral before work. I think maybe for women in our country, anyway, this has some emotional impact because she was an institution, a female English speaking leader of the Western World, even if not politically. Then with rights over our bodies recently ripped away here, women are feeling kind of kicked to the curb, even as trans women and men have become more visible. It’s almost like we’re in the process of being shrunk back to invisibility, as if turning the clock back almost a century”…

I feel all these things that my friend said very acutely and very painfully.

Queen Elizabeth had a VOICE and a PRESENCE at a time when very few women DID. This MEANS something. This MATTERS. A WHOLE…
