I can totally relate to this Jessica. I despise leaf blowers perhaps as much as I also revile SUVs. Sometimes I think to myself as you say here why not just let civilization reach it’s inevitable end? It feels very sad to me to think that much less write it. A dear friend of mine, who had grown up in California, and was often at the beach has said to me through the years that you learn through experience in trial and error to never ever turn your back on the ocean. That you respect the force, the power, the majesty and grandeur of the ocean itself. I totally believe this, because I have been knocked around by doing that very thing and been bruised and battered as a result. I feel the same way about the earth. Mother Earth. It is simply not viable to think that the continued desecration can have no consequences. The fact that so many seem so oblivious is heartbreaking. Thank you for writing this.
