Have you watched "The Tinder Swindler" yet?

If not, I would highly recommend it because it points out an extreme example of gender disparity.

Like you, I was also rooting for Anna because she came SO close to pulling this off and my own thoughts about it is that by being ingenuous enough to "tap into" the superficial world she exposed these people (perhaps not by coincidence mostly white middle aged men) and their completely shallow lives; in other words, they were embarrassed that they got "taken in" by her.
