Halcyon of Halston

“Do you ever feel like everything you have could disappear in an instant?”

That’s the question (or one of them) in the Netflix series “Halston” starring the delicious Ewan McGregor which I am SO primed to watch! In viewing the trailer there’s a particular scene wherein Ewan (as Halston) appears to be at a business meeting with his ever present cigarette and refined hauteur roundly sounding off at various board members with the casual insouciance for which he was so well known by saying “Fuck you, fuck you AND fuck you, too…”

And, can I just say how very much I love that! Back in the day, of course, Halston was synonymous with the nightlife and glamour of “Studio 54” and Liza, Bianca, Andy, Mick, Grace Jones and cocaine. When I was younger, I always thought the mad tales of that time sounded so wonderful and exciting — a whole other world apart from the rather sedate and mundane one that I happened to find myself living in. I remember reading articles about it all and wondering how such people and places even existed as it felt like an entirely separate universe — and indeed, it was…a rare cultural moment in the history of New York City — and especially in light of current events, a period of time that will most likely never be repeated again; at least not right away, if ever.
