“Freak Out in a Moon Age Day Dream”

I watched this fantastical musical documentary last night and it was…

Immersive. Overwhelming. Beautiful. Surreal. Artistic. Timeless.

Just like the man himself. I was left sitting on my sofa, softly weeping, because even now, I still miss his presence in this strange world of ours.

When I use the word “immersive” it’s because he was, everything about him was like this because “he” wasn’t just “one thing” but “many things.”

A musician, yes, certainly. But also, a painter. An actor. A mime artist. A style icon. A muse to so many others, including myself. He was simply beyond this world and it’s own inane limitations. He pushed back on these limitations. Constantly. Consistently. As the true chameleon that he was.

He was always changing, always growing, always re-inventing, because “time” was an elusive question mark, it was the “be here now” and the immense love of life that he had, which imbued everything that he did.

I listened to the many songs that continue to inspire me while watching this and smiled, remembering certain times/places/people in my heart.

“I will sit right here, waiting for the gift of sound and vision.”

“We can be heroes, just for one day.”
