Elegy for Jake
On Tuesday, the 21st of June, my fur baby Jake departed this world for, what I whispered to him over and over again, would be a much better world beyond.
Or, as Morrissey once sang “Love, Peace and Harmony. Love, Peace and Harmony. Oh, very nice, very nice, very nice. But maybe in the next world.”
I reassured him that this next world would be a magical, mystical, special place just for him and all the others both before and after him, too.
A place unlike any other…wherein he would would be free of any pain, be able to run, jump, wag his tail, like the “whirligig” tail he had for so very long. In this place, he would meet SO many interesting “others” — all his relatives. All the other fur babies that I had had before, would be there to greet him.
And oh, I said to him, I can’t wait to see, hear and feel all your discoveries.
“Jake” was named after the character “Jake Ryan” in the John Hughes film, “Sixteen Candles.” ALL the girls wanted to be with Jake Ryan, including me:
I think the resemblance is pretty clear, actually :)
