“Blue Eyes Crying, In The Rain”…
I have blue eyes — not exactly quite as blue as the color above, although that can change of course, depending on the colors that I am wearing. Sometimes my blue eyes are blue/grey, even; someone years ago once said that my eyes looked almost violet (I can’t remember the color I was wearing) at the time. All of this to say: I had my yearly eye exam yesterday.
For people who do NOT have lighter colored eyes, this is generally not a big deal, especially with regards to having their eyes dilated, BUT for people with lighter colored eyes, such as myself, it can be an absolute nightmare.
This is especially true for me right now as I am attempting to slowly taper off my Klonopin and one of the side effects of this is visual changes, such as hyper sensitivity to light so *yay* NOT. Anyway, last year when I had my eye exam, my doctor was able to see everything he needed to and so no drops were used; this time though, a year later, I thought: “Okay, I just need to do this and hopefully be able to handle the consequences of it all.”
WHAT, exactly, ARE the consequences of pupil dilation for people with blue eyes? Well, the side effects last FAR longer; for example, my appointment yesterday morning was at 10 AM and my eyes were probably dilated about 10:30 AM and for the next EIGHT HOURS (yes, you read that right) my vision was blurry and I felt…
