The Concept of “Arming” Teachers to…Teach.

So, it’s finally happened. The state of Ohio just announced earlier today that it is “reducing” the amount of training that teachers must undergo to have a gun in the classroom from 700 hours to…less than 24 hours. Yes, you read that correctly. And yes, if you’re thinking perhaps like me, you’re also thinking this:

WTF?? As in: just when American society couldn’t possibly become anymore ludicrous, insane and downright scary, we now have this. And it’s just: WOW.

I’m not sure about anyone else, but when I think back to some of my teachers the idea of some of them carrying ANY weapons scares the hell out of me *Looking at you, Mr. Cunningham* (from back in the day) before I was sent to boarding school. In the midst of all this, there is also now what I can only presume something to akin to a record breaking heat wave occurring in much of the country. Here’s what it said the last time I checked: Temperature is 91 but it feels like 102 with humidity. Yes, everything is just fine. Perfect!

American culture has gone off the rails.

For a brief few years, I taught as a university professor. I can’t even begin to imagine how teachers must be feeling right now. This is absolute insanity.

It would seem that, in the states, the answer to more potential violence is:

More potential violence.

That makes sense. NOT. It’s crazy.
