Anyone Have a “Fun” 4th of July?
Echo echo echo
So, where I currently live I have the “pleasure” of viewing the fireworks on July 4th from either my kitchen windows or my small bathroom window.
In other words, there was no way I could “avoid” hearing them. As they began late Sunday evening, I walked into my bathroom, stood there, watched the lights fill up the sky, and then walked into my kitchen, stood there, and watched the lights fill up the sky and thought to myself: “WHY???”
As in: WHAT is there to POSSIBLY celebrate about a country that has not only taken autonomy away from half of it’s citizens but also its complete lacking of empathy/compassion/respect for the innocent victims who were shot and killed earlier in the day? Talk about being “tone deaf” — WOW!!!
And then, while pondering that, I had to ask myself: “But why, exactly, am I even surprised that this ‘country’ would act in such a manner?” I mean, certainly the fireworks would go on, just as the grilling out would continue, and “Nathan’s” hot dog eating contest would commence…because that’s what America seems to do: either ignore tragedy or seek to mitigate it in some way.
For myself: I had a gin and tonic and stayed in bed, most of the day…
“Celebrate good times, come on”…NOT.
